Door Installation

A properly hung door swings smoothly, seals tightly, and operates for years without adjustment. Our carpenters install interior and exterior doors of all types — from a single pre-hung interior door to French door sets and sliding barn doors — with precision that shows in every swing.

How We Work

Our Process

01

Rough Opening Assessment

We measure the rough opening, check for plumb, level, and square, and identify any framing issues before the door arrives on site. Openings out of tolerance are corrected at this stage.

02

Door Selection Guidance

We advise on door height, width, swing direction, core type (hollow vs. solid), and material — guiding you to the right product for traffic level, sound control, and aesthetic.

03

Frame Setting

Pre-hung doors are set in the opening, shimmed at the hinge and strike locations, checked for plumb and level in all directions, and fastened through the shim points.

04

Reveal Adjustment

The reveal — the consistent gap between the door slab and the frame — is adjusted to be uniform on all three sides. This is what makes a door look and feel professional.

05

Hardware & Strike Alignment

Hinges are tightened and adjusted, the latch is installed, and the strike plate is mortised and positioned for smooth latching without binding.

06

Casing & Weatherstripping

Interior casing is installed on both faces. Exterior doors receive threshold and weatherstrip seals. The door is tested for smooth operation, positive close, and proper lock engagement.
